Root Canal in Norwich

Root canal treatment (also called endodontic treatment) is needed when the pulp inside your tooth becomes infected through tooth decay (caries) or damaged as a result of an injury to your tooth. This infection may spread through the root canal system and could eventually lead to an abscess, causing a great deal of discomfort, pain and occasionally face swelling. If root canal treatment is not carried out, the tooth may need to be taken out.

Our Root canal treatment in Norwich involves the following:

  1. First, local anaesthetic will be administered to ensure no discomfort is felt during treatment.
  2. If your tooth is saveable a small access cavity will be prepared with a small drill, allowing access to the root canal system.
  3. The root canal system will be thoroughly disinfected and the root canal space will be sealed with a root canal filling material
  4. A post-operative filling will be placed and if required we will advise if a crown to protect the tooth is required. The crown is often provided by your general dentist, if possible.

Root canal treatment is a skilled and time-consuming procedure and some courses of treatment will involve two or more visits.
